This Blog is about the Age of Empires games which are considered by many gamers to be among the top ranked games offering great in game strategic multi playing options. As an experienced player you will be will aware of the game play, and that 8 people can play together in the age of empires wide choice of scenarios.
Once you get used to the game play these Aoe multiplayer scenarios can become very interesting indeed, offering players the chance to alliance with other players for trading and joining of forces or even turning the tables and becoming an enemy. Naturally of course only after they have decided to carry on mining your gold! after your kind request to stop.
The game it seems has been made to last a life time, it is so popular there are in excess of 70,000 searches for Age of Empires 4 every month. This is with out a mention that Microsoft or other game developers have even drawn up plans to make the Age of Empires 4 addition.
When Age of Empires 3 came on to the market unlike the previous AOE games players where faced with a complete new game engine offering intricate game play larger army’s, maps and a whole new way of playing.
I don’t know about you but it took my friends, family and I a little longer to get to grips with age of empires 3. Once comfortable with the game play you will experience the true potential of a Master strategy game.
I wonder what Age of Empires 4 would be like should it ever be made.
Some people may have some ideas of improvements but with today’s technologies I am pretty sure they could take Age of Empires 4 to a whole new level. You just have to take a look at some of the massive online multiplayer games, they are improving all the time.
This is how I imagine us fans playing the Age of Empires 4 game should it ever be made. Taking into consideration how technology is always advancing Graphics Cards in particular, I would love to see Age of Empires 4 made into a massive online game, maybe not so massive but you know what I mean.
Keeping all the aspects of the game such as farming, mining, research etc it could be made to a maximum of 20-30 players each side with much larger maps and size in characters, lol maybe use an improved game engine similar to Grand Theft Auto.
What do you think about a game of Age Of Empires 4 where you can build your own town based on the Grand Theft Auto game format? Do you reckon there would be a much larger market for it?
Personally I would queue for it if the Age of Empires 4 game was made like that.

since ES has "signed off" of the series, a fourth one will not be made. Hopefully another company could partner with microsoft to make a fourth and a fifth, and the potential would be great. However, if another company does come, it would come wih a lot of changes, some good, but a lot bad. It could be more difficult to handle the game.
It Would be most awesome if when they make age of empires 4 that they set it in world war 1 and 2. then at the start of every campain or free match you could chose which war, party eg Allied or the one germany was on and country. Then make a vietnam expansion.

Yes I agree Age of Empires 4 would be a welcomed addition by many of us fans of the earlier games, alas I not sure they have it on any kind of schedule to actually make 1.
I have seen a new add on game for the third game so if you like I reckon that is the real Age Of Empires 4 that every body seems to be looking for. If the game was made I like to see it running on the same kind of game engine as the latest grand theft auto.
That would be totally out of this world, Age of Empires 4 3rd person gaming. Getting money from legit and illicit ways to build an age Empire

AOE is a great game. It is equal to RON.

I have recently started playing AOE2 again after not playing for about 10 years and still loving it. We as consumers should not sit back and wait for AOE4 to come out, WE shoud demand it. I can not even image how much money was made from this game. The franchise owes the public!!
AOE III is the best idea ever. The only problem is, AOE III The Asian Dynasties goes up to the late 19th century. What are they gunna show? There really is no frontier to explore, and now there has to kinda be air units. THAT would ruin it all. Maybe they could add some new civs. Idk. A modern AOE would just ruin the fun of being able to charge over a hilltop onto the enemy guns, cutting them up with ur cold steel. Try doing that with hussars and TANKS. Light brigaid 2, and 3, and 4, ect. It's fine where it is. AOE IV would fail SO bad. It would look like we were going through a slow civilizationg age up. Cavemen, Castles, frontiers, ect. It's a great game, but they jumped too many centuries. The timeline and series is done. Kapoot. NO MORE. Sorry guys. Ensemble should be done with this. Time to move on.
age of empires 2 was my favorite. I think they will make a 4th one. But i think they ill add a lot more civilizations. i think that AOE will be the best game ever

dudes (hopefuly) lets not forrget ww1 and ww2,i agree with puppinator, age of empires would be boring if there was no more land to explore, but it would be a crapload more interesting watching a freakin tank do stupid crap.Just imagine SPACE EXPLORATION.There would be intersteller space wars.So yeah,age of emp. would gaet old without exploration, but i dont think ensemle should stop making the games!!!
They should go back to the time period of Age of Empires 1, ancient times stone age, tool age, bronze age, iron age, and make a new/modern game in that era. They can upgrade the graphics and interface from AOEIII. This would be a great real time strategy game and would definitely be a big hit.
I have seen some info on Age of Empires Online. I don't like that you can buy features to make you a better player. I also don't like that it encourages you to constantly watch and do upgrades in your capital city which is in the game 24/7 persistently. That's all I need is more time wasting. They still have player vs player RTS games within the game but it is just one part now. Your performance in the PVP games depends somewhat on the development of your capital city and that annoys me. How can you have a fair game then? I want a fair game that I can play from scratch when I have time, not something I have to continuously watch and upgrade in between times I actually want to play. I'm sure that's great for the game makers though, keeping you addicted and online as much as possible, buying add-ons and "vanity packs" bullcrap. Add in social crap to trap everyone's friends and make it even more addictive.
They had better not dumb down the RTS aspect of Age of Empires Online. It's nice that it's sort of free, but the FarmVille and World of Warcraft aspects of it annoy the heck out of me. I might prefer to pay for the game. So I'm skeptical but I'm still hoping it will be a good game.
u know what would be awsome...if villigers could actualy talk to each other.Or if there would actualy be preditors and night time.Then there would be street lights not that is that great.
they really need to make a 4th game of AOE, its just an excellent series with a lot of potential to go further, they should remake 1 2 and 3 with extra civilizations and then move on to number 4 making it in the vietnam war, then for the 5th make it in space with planets as civilizations and alien races and so on, that way if they made all this within about 5 years all people that play it will be extremely happy and they will make alot of money out of it, wasted opportunity by any gaming company that lets this franchise go to waste

I really like the idea of a remake of the first game. Think of Greek, Roman, and Egyptian architecture and wonders with the greatly improved game engines and graphics we have today. Having the Parthenon or the Great Pyramid in scale to the villagers would be unreal. And lets face it, clashing armies of hoplites, centurians, chariots, and cavalry is so much more fun than when you add guns to the mix. Arrows and catapult projectiles are slower and don't decimate the hand-to-hand units.
If they did decide to do WWI or II though, some of the technology research and the potential of changing the way history turned out would be interesting. I don't like the way other games have tried to do it and failed, but I believe that if it was done in the AOE style it could turn out good. For example, heavy research, development and production of the jet engine by the Germans would have won them the war in real life.
But of the choices above, the Byzantine Empire is my favorite. At sometime between 600 AD and 1000 AD (I can't remember) the Byzantine Empire was poised to reconquer Europe and bring the dead Roman Empire back to life, and could have done so easily before a plague hit Byzantium and pretty much destroyed their civilization.
I would love to see an AOE I reboot. That game was awesome, but really needs the features from the later AOE games.

@DW - Age of Empires online goes back to the AOE 1 period. It has Bronze Age, Silver Age, Iron Age and civs Greeks, Egyptians, Persians, Celts. Don't let the cartoony graphics and mete game element fool you, it has full on AOE RTS and is pretty darn fun. I haven't bought a premium civ yet (so I paid nothing so far) but plan to.
Age of empires 4 would most defenatly have to take place between the mid- 19th century to the beginning of ww1
an expansion to age of empires 3 adding an American civ, confederate civ, an Mexican Civ, and a Shawnee/creek civ, or a combination of Lakota, Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho civ. and the campaign would be about the war of 1812 the american Indian wars (1811-1816) also including the conquest of Florida and part of the Seminole Wars. the Mexican-American War, The civil war, Great Sioux War of 1876, and finally the Spanish American War. and you could do other campaigns as well like the Russo-Japanese War British conquest of Africa or the French conquest of Africa or a more in depth Napoleonic wars expansion with European maps .So theres still tons of material for expansions on the thrid game.
they should make AoE 4 in the world war 1&2 times... that would be really cool.. building up factories.. and tecnical advances.. planes,tanks, and you stil have the chance to charge in with your men with swards and bayanetts cuz they still used that back then! that would be so COOL!.. and AOE 5 should be space kinna lifke starcraft but AOE style! :-) please Msoft make a new one
Granted AoE IV would be boss, a 1941 version of it would be pretty sick. The only way to get around planes being able to raze an enemy's base really quickly would be to make them weak (either health or attack wise). The same goes for tanks; they would have to make them really slow or have a very slow reload rate to even the game out. Teams of Aoe IV could be: Soviet Russia (Stalin), United States (FDR), Great Britain (Churchill), Japan (Hirohito), The Third Reich (Hitler), Facist Republic of Italy (Mussolini), Facist Republic of Spain (Franco), France (de Gaulle), etc. But Microsoft could definitely do it if they partnered themselves with Fixaris or some company like that. c:
